Grenada: New Ferry Service...

Well, its finally here! The new ferry service that will start this October, from Grenada.
Have you ever wanted to travel between the islands and explore more than one of them during your vacation?
So would we.
Unfortunately, it has become a little too expensive to fly on a regular basis.
We often looked at the ferry service between the Grenadines and St. Vincent, but there is not a regular connection further south than Union Island.

The ferry service in Grenada, Osprey, only runs between Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Thankfully, that is about to change, as there is a new service that is supposed to start soon, and it would be a good alternative to the regular flights between the islands, and a lot cheaper too.

The company is registered in Grenada, and will be connecting the islands of Trinidad, Grenada, Barbados, St.Lucia and SVG. You can find out all the details from their website at: www.bedytravel.com

It would soon be possible, and a lot cheaper, to plan a trip starting in Grenada, and moving all the way up the island chain. You can take the ferry as far as St.Lucia, then basically island hop on the other ferry lines.
In fact, we are planning on taking advantage of the convenience this will offer and taking a trip to Dominica and St.Lucia. We would take the ferry up the islands to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and on to St.Lucia.

From St.Lucia, we would take the L'Express Des Isles ferry to Dominica. Obviously, its not just a matter of getting there, but the chance to travel up the island chain and see it from a different perspective.
We haven't been there in years, and would like to re-visit those islands and do a little more exploring.
In St.Lucia, we visited Pigeon Point, Soufrier and the Pitons, but there were many sights which we missed out on, simply because we didn't have enough time.

Dominica was a blast. It is definitely the 'Nature Island'. We stayed in the northeast, but drove everywhere we could. Still didn't see half of what the island had to offer and didn't manage to do much hiking.
Of course, we still haven't been to Martinique and Guadeloupe, so there are more island to explore.

Is about time that someone decided to do this, and i guess it could not have started at a better time, with the cost of flying between the islands on LIAT, at such a ridiculous level.
Imagine..the cost of a ticket (return) from Grenada to Trinidad (90 miles away) is US$295.

New Ferry Service
That is fantastic! Some of the Grenadine islands are hard to get to and this would be a perfect solution to go island-hopping.

Ms
I've always wanted to visit other Caribbean islands at least once. Just be just the start I needed. Hopeful it would get started.

Cheap Ferry Service
Good post and nice picture of the ferry. I always prefer cheap ferries to travel between the islands as it is much convenient than the other modes. cheap ferries are the best way to explore the islands in the European continent too.
