If you would like to get away from the Grand Anse beach and try somewhere different to relax on a Sunday,
then the Sand Bar should be at the top of your list.We had heard about it and decided to give it a try, so we recently paid a visit. Well, it certainly was a pleasant surprise. It turned out to be nice, simple and easygoing. Tim, from Lance Aux Epines Cottages, set out to create a nice rustic bar on the beach, just a few steps from the waters edge, just the type of place where we like to hang out.
I guess that what made it stand out the most, at least to us, was the fact that it did not have that cold permanent look that a lot of places get because they tend to be constructed out of concrete. This, i find, totally ruins the 'feel' of the place.
This, combined with lots of shady spots and a BBQ grill, is what comes to mind when you mention 'Beach Bar', and it is what we liked the most about it. When we got there, it was a little late in the evening (he's only open on Sundays from 12.30 - 6.00PM), so did not get the chance to try his burgers. The prices are quite good though, with a regular burger starting at EC$12, and the Angus and Veggie burgers for EC$16.
We liked it, and I'm sure that most people would too. The beach is great for families, as the water is calm and shallow, and you can sit in the shade with a cold Carib, and wiggle your toes in the sand. I guess the questions most people would ask is whether we would recommend it. Well, the answer to that is yes. We loved it ….
