Grenada is famous as the ‘Isle of Spice’, but of course the island has so much more to offer than simply ‘spices’. What I find so fascinating about the island is that Grenada still has the old Caribbean ‘flair’. It has not been commercialised by tourism.
Grenada is one of those islands that offers something for everyone, and some of these are the charming, and quite affordable, hideaways that give you the chance to escape from the ‘hustle and bustle’ of everyday life.
Epping Forest:
A nice old Plantation home in the parish of St. Davids. This place was left to ruin for many years until it was bought and re-built a couple years ago by an English couple, Jacky & Dave.The plantation home is a hidden gem, with a lush garden reminiscent of the days when this was a self-supporting establishment.They have done an amazing job of restoring, going so far as to add antique furniture which matches the period.
You will feel relaxed and quite at home as soon you enter.
Pick your own fruits ..... Relax in the hammock ..... Get out and meet locals...there is no reason to feel rushed when you are there.

La Sagesse:
Another very nice old restored colonial plantation home, located directly on a beautiful palm shadded beach .What makes laSagesse so special is that it is the only building on that beach.
This small resort has a great sea food restaurant, but it is the nicely decorated rooms, just a few steps away from the water, that makes it worthwhile.
If you like relaxing on a practically deserted and palm studded beach, I would suggest you not miss a chance to visit.

The Lodge;
The Lodge is another old house which has been lovingly restored and added to , to turn it into one of the best, if not the only, totally Vegan holiday destinations in the southern Caribbean.The views from their balconies are breathtaking, and a camera does not capture the sheer scale of the panorama. This is one of the best, literally ‘jaw dropping’ views you will see anywhere.
The building has been restored and separate guest rooms have been added. However, the owners have gone to great lengths to ensure that the ‘look’ of the building is consistent. Furnishings, while modern, still give the feeling that you are staying in one of the old plantation homes.

Almost Paradise
The remoteness of this place is only apparent when you have to drive there from the airport, but this is essentially the charm.Located at the northern coast of our island, the views from the restaurant and the room balconies is spellbinding.
The entire place faces the islands towards the north of Grenada, and because it is built predominantly on a bluff overlooking the sea, there is a constant breeze to keep you cool. The small town of Sauteurs is only about 10 minutes drive away, but this only makes the location more charming, as you can have both the convenience and remoteness.

Mango Bay
Mango Bay is a new place which consists of four self contained apartments in two separate buildings.The owners have built it on a hillside overlooking the west coast of the island, in an area which is secluded. The apartments themselves are quite nice and have separate balconies where you can relax and watch the sunset.
One of the things which makes this place stand out, is its remoteness from the tourism belt, and the fact that it has a fairly secluded beach which guests can walk down to.
