Bathway beach is a nice getaway on the northeast coast, and one of our favorite beaches in the north of the island. This white sand beach is quite popular with just about everyone, the main reason being that it has a unique feature which makes it attractive for both kids and non-swimmers alike. Even though the beach is located on the Atlantic coast, which normally experiences choppier surf, there is a natural breakwater which gives a shallow and calm section which is safe for both kids and non-swimmers alike, and where they can just relax and enjoy a good soak. The sand is a little coarser, but this is because of the wave action.
During the week, it is usually quite deserted, but on weekends and public holidays there can be quite a festive crowd enjoying the warm waters. Its the perfect place for a picnic or barbecue, and on weekends you usually find lots of people doing exactly that. The smell can be mouthwatering.
There is lots of easy parking available, with public showers and restrooms nearby. There are also a couple of small shops selling drinks and snacks.
From the beach, you can also see the islands to the north of Grenada, such as Green Island, Sandy Island (Grenada) and in the distance on a clear day, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

While Bathway can be nice on a calm day with low tide; It's not always like that. Manage to get behind the barrier on a bad day and there is a strong current that can be dangerous.
There use to be a sign warning people of the dangers of it posted in several language due to the many downing there of both locals and foreigners.

Thanks so much for your blog and photos! After finally finishing our build on Bathway Beach we treated ourselves to a trip to Sandy Island - we were taken over by a local fisherman - what a great day!
